The Philippine government has renewed Radio Veritas 846, the leading faith-based radio station in the Philippines, its franchise to continue broadcasting for another 25 years.
The renewal of franchise to operate was granted by Congressto Veritas846through Republic Act No. 10793 or“An Act Granting the Radio Veritas-Global Broadcasting System, Incorporated, a Franchise to Construct, Install Operate and Maintain for Religious, Educational, Cultural and Commercial Purposes Radio and Television Broadcasting Stations in the Philippines, and for Other Purposes”recently signed by President Benigno S. Aquino III.
Radio Veritas President, Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual expressed his gratitude to the Philippine government and to all Kapanalig for their continued support to the station. He also, reiterated that the station will continue to uphold its mission to stand for truth and evangelize the world.
“We thank the Philippine government for granting us another 25 years of service. It’s a start of another milestone not only for Radio Veritas but also to our Kapanalig who’ve been supporting and helping the station for the longest time. We urge all the faithful to join us as we move forward to be the social communications ministry for truth and new evangelization,” Fr. Pascual said.
Owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Manila, Radio Veritas is a 24/7 AM radio station providing religious and magazine programs, Church advocacies and social concerns to its listeners.
In 1986, it was through Radio Veritas that Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin made the call to the people to converge in EDSA to prevent the bloodshed, and ushered in the four-day bloodless revolution known as People Power Revolution.
That same year, Radio Veritas received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Journalism, Literature, and Creative Communication Arts. The Ramon Magsaysay Award Board of Trustees recognized Radio Veritas’ crucial role in using the truth to depose an oppressive and corrupt regime and restore the Filipino faith in the electoral process.
Currently, Radio Veritas is going beyond radio through its website, www.veritas846.ph and its various social media platforms. It is also to extending its reach to television through its partnership with TV Maria.
