Ang Mabuting Balita, 5 Nobyembre 2023 – Mateo 23: 1-12
KATANYAGAN
Noong panahong iyong, sinabi ni Jesus sa mga tao at sa kanyang mga alagad, “Ang mga eskriba at ang mga Pariseo ang kinikilalang tagapagpaliwanang ng Kautusan ni Moises. Kaya’t gawin ninyo ang itinuturo nila at sundin ang kanilang iniuutos. Ngunit huwag ninyo tularan ang kanilang gawa, sapagkat hindi nila isinasagawa ang kanilang ipinangangaral. Nagbibigkis sila ng mabibigat na dalahin at ipinapasan sa mga tao; ngunit ni daliri ay ayaw nilang igalaw upang tumulong sa pagdadala ng mga iyon. Pawang pakitang-tao ang kanilang mga gawa. Nilalaparan nila ang kanilang mga pilakterya at hinahabaan ang palawit sa laylayan ng kanilang mga damit. Ang ibig nila’y ang mga upuang pandangal sa mga piging at ang mga tanging luklukan sa mga sinagoga. Ang ibig nila’y pagpugayan sila sa mga liwasang-bayan, at tawaging guro. Ngunit kayo — huwag kayong patawag na guro, sapagkat iisa ang inyong Guro, at kayong lahat ay magkakapatid. At huwag ninyo tawaging ama ang sinumang tao sa lupa, sapagkat iisa ang inyong Ama, ang Amang nasa langit. Huwag kayong patawag na tagapagturo, sapagkat iisa ang inyong Tagapagturo, ang Mesiyas. Ang pinakadakila sa inyo ay dapat maging lingkod ninyo. Ang nagpapakataas ay ibababa, at ang nagpapakababa ay itataas.”

Noong mga bata pa tayo, mayroon tayong laro na may kasamang kanta, “Follow the Leader, kung saan ang mga kalahok ay gumagaya ng ginagawa, at inuulit ang sinasabi ng taong napili na lider o pinuno. Ang mga eskriba at Pariseo ay maaaring matawag na mga pinuno sapagkat inaako nila na sila ay mga dalubhasa ng Batas ni Moises. Malinaw na hindi ito maaaring gamitin sa uri ng pamumuno nila sapagkat sinasabi lang nila sa mga tao ang dapat gawin na sila mismo ay hindi ginagawa o hindi kayang gawin. Ang mahalaga lamang para sa kanila ay ang KATANYAGAN ng pagiging dalubhasa, ang mabigyan ng parangal sa mga liwasang-bayan (na napakabuti para sa kanila sapagkat napakaraming tao dito), sa mga piging, sa mga sinagoga, at higit sa lahat, ang matawag na “Guro.”
Hindi sinabi ni Jesus sa mga tao na huwag pakinggan o sundin ang mga sinasabi ng mga eskriba at mga Pariseo, kundi huwag sundin ang kanilang pagpapakitang-tao o ang pagpapaimbabaw, at ang kanilang pagnanasang makatanggap ng labis na papuri. Kailangan nating matanto na lahat ng tao ay nilikhang pantay-pantay ng Diyos, at ang maghangad na maging mas mataas sa ibang tao ay pakikipagkumpetensya sa Diyos. Ano ang saysay ng pakikipagkumpetensya sa Diyos na kahit kailan ay hindi natin mapapantayan? Ito ay labis na pag-aaksaya ng oras! Bakit hindi na lang tayo magsimula kung nasaan tayo, kung anong mayroon tayo, at hilingin sa Espiritu na tulungan tayong matanto kung ano ang personal na layunin natin sa buhay? At pagkatapos matanto, maaari nating gawin ang pinakamabuti upang magamit ng husto ang oras natin sa mundo, at magkaroon ng pagkakataong makamit ang buhay na walang hanggan kapag tapos na ang oras natin sa mundo.
Panginoon, tulungan mo kaming makapaglingkod ng malinis sa pamamagitan ng paggawa ayon sa aming sinasabi!
