Ang Mabuting Balita, 7 Nobyembre 2023 – Lucas 14: 15-24
HULI NA
Noong mga panahong iyon, sinabi kay Jesus ng isa sa mga kasalo niya sa hapag, “Mapalad ang makakasalo sa hapag sa kaharian ng Diyos!” Sumagot si Jesus, “May isang lalaking naghanda ng isang malaking piging, at marami siyang inanyayahan. Nang dumating ang oras ng piging, inutusan niya ang kanyang mga alipin at ipinasabi sa mga inanyayahan, ‘Halina kayo, handa na ang lahat!’ Ngunit nagdahilan silang lahat. Ang sabi ng una, ‘Nakabili ako ng bukid, at kailangan kong puntahan. Kayo na sana ang bahalang magpaumanhin sa akin.’ At sinabi ng isa, ‘Nakabili ako ng limang pares na baka, at kailangan kong isingkaw para masubok. Kayo na sana ang bahalang magpaumanhin sa akin.’ Sinabi naman ng isa pa, ‘Bagong kasal ako kaya hindi ako makakadalo.’ Bumalik ang alipin at ibinalita ito sa kanyang panginoon. Nagalit ito at sinabi sa alipin, ‘Lumabas kang madali sa mga lansangan at makikipot na daan ng lungsod, at isama mo rito ang mga pulubi, mga pingkaw, mga bulag, at mga pilay.’ Pagbabalik ng alipin ay sinabi niya, ‘Panginoon, nagawa na po ang iniutos ninyo, ngunit maluwag pa.’ Kaya’t sinabi ng panginoon sa alipin, ‘Lumabas ka sa mga lansangan at sa mga landas, at pilitin mong pumarito ang mga tao, upang mapuno ang aking bahay. Sinasabi ko sa inyo: isa man sa mga unang inanyayahan ay hindi makatitikim ng aking handa!’”

Sa ebanghelyo sa araw na ito, mga inanyayahan sa malaking piging ay nagbigay ng iba’t ibang uri ng paumanhin, kaya’t sinabihan ng “host” ang kanyang alipin na kumbidahin ang lahat ng mga tao na nasa kalye o mga taong hindi niya kilala, kasama na ang mga may kapansanan. Si Jesus ay nasa hapag-kainan ng bahay ng isang pinunong Pariseo. Maliwanag na ang mga itinutukoy niya ay ang mga Judio, na unang inanyayahan sa hapag-kainan ng Diyos, ngunit hindi nila ito pinahalagahan at hindi nila pinakinggan si Jesus sapagkat nakapako sila sa mga itinuro at nakasanayan ng kanilang mga ninuno. Nawala tuloy ang pagkakataon na matikman nila ang handa sa hapag-kainan ng Diyos.
Mayroong nagsabi: “Opportunity knocks only once. You never know if you’ll get another opportunity.” Ang ibig sabihin, minsan lang darating ang pagkakataon. Hindi mo alam kung mabibigyan ka ng isa pang pagkakataon. Mayroong mga iba sa atin na laging ipinagpapaliban ang pagpapakabuti, at sinasabi na magpapakabuti lamang sila kapag malapit na sila mamatay. Sinong nakakaalam kung kailan o paano tayo mamamatay? Sinong nakakaalam kung may darating pa na pagkakataong magpakabuti, o kung ito ay magiging HULI NA. Bakit natin iwawaldas ang ating buhay kung maaari naman tayong magsaya ayon sa kagustuhan ng Tagabigay ng Buhay?
Panginoon, tulungan mo kaming gawin ang pinakamabuti araw-araw, na tila ito na ang huling araw ng aming buhay!
