Gospel Reading for July 14, 2024 – Mark 6: 7-13

NOTHING WILL BE WASTED

Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick— no food, no sack, no money in their belts. They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic. He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave. Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.” So they went off and preached repentance. The Twelve drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

————

It is our Christian duty to proclaim the Word of God, especially when people are advocating things that are against the Laws of God. Most of the time, our proclamation will fall on deaf ears and it is disheartening, but this should not deter us from doing our duty. The Holy Spirit will help us through so we may not lose faith and garner enough strength to continue. Let us just shake the dust off our feet and continue doing our part in the salvific mission of Christ. NOTHING WILL BE WASTED because it will end in eternal life.

Lord, we pray that we will always be among the workers in your harvest!
