Gospel Reading for July 24, 2024 – Matthew 13: 1-9
CONSCIOUS RELATIONSHIP
On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore. And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. Whoever has ears ought to hear.”

Soil is rich when it is full of nutrients that will help plants/trees grow healthily and produce fruits, flowers and branches with leaves that provide good shade. Our lives may be rich soil where the seed of God’s Word may be sown to produce fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. For our lives to be rich soil, we have to first know how to listen to God’s Word, and listening does not require just the ears, but our heart because it is our heart that will make us understand what we hear. To be rich soil, we need to be full of nutrients, especially daily prayer and a CONSCIOUS RELATIONSHIP with God. This is sure to bear fruits in the cardinal virtues of: Prudence, Justice, Temperance, and Fortitude, and the theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity.
Help us be rich soil, Lord, and produce fruit that will benefit humankind, all for your greater glory!
