Gospel Reading for 1 August 2024 – Matthew 13: 47-53
CARE FOR LIFE
Jesus said to the disciples: “The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind. When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets. What is bad they throw away. Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.”
“Do you understand all these things?” They answered, “Yes.” And he replied, “Then every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old.” When Jesus finished these parables, he went away from there.

There are those of us who have gotten used to feeling powerful by bullying others; to having fun by magnifying the mistakes of others; feeling big by looking down on others; feeling good by hurting people we do not like; and so on and so forth. The list is very long for those who do not care about life.
When we CARE FOR LIFE, everything we do goes to building God’s Kingdom, because God is the GIVER OF LIFE. Hence, we care not only for other persons, but for all things/creatures that come from him, and, we shun all things/actions that go against life. Those of us who CARE FOR LIFE, will not be thrown into the fiery furnace at the end of the age. We are on the right path to eternal life!
Help us Lord, to remain faithful to you up to the end of our lives on earth!
