ALAGAD SA BANSANG MALAYA

Bago ang Kaniyang pag-akyat sa langit, tagubilin ni Hesus sa kaniyang mga disipulo, “Gawin ninyong alagad ang lahat ng mga bansa, binyagan niyo sila sa ngalan ng Ama, at ng Anak at ng Espiritu Santo” (Mateo 28:19)

Upang maging alagad, kinakailangan na ma-binyagan ang tao sa ngalan ng tatlong persona ng Santisima Trinidad, nitong ika-11 ng Hunyo ngayong taon, pinagdiwang ng Simbahan ang Linggo ng Santisima Trinidad o Trinity Sunday, isang misteryo kung saan nananampalataya tayong mga Cristiano na may iisang Diyos ngunit tatlo sa persona, ang Diyos Ama, ang Diyos Anak na si Hesus at ang Diyos Espiritu Santo. Makalipas ang isang araw, nataon naman na pinagdiriwang ng ating bansa ang Araw ng Kalayaan, tila isang pambihirang pagkakataon at paalala kung paano tayo maging mga alagad ni Hesus sa isang Bansang Malaya.

Isang pagsasabuhay ng kaniyang mga salita na maging mga tapat na “Alagad” sa “lahat ng mga Bansa” gaya ng Pilipinas, taglay ang pangalan ng “Ama, Anak at Espiritu Santo”

Alagad, Kalayaan at Tugon

Ang salitang alagad ay nangangahulugan ring “tagasunod”, Kung kaya’t ang isang alagad ni Cristo, ay kinakailangang sundin ang kaniyang mga utos at ipagpatuloy ang kaniyang mga Gawain. Sabi ni San Pablo, “Magdalahan kayo ng mga pasanin ng isa’t – isa at tuparin ninyong gayon ang kautusan ni Cristo” (Galacia 6:2).

Bukod naman dito, ang salitang Kalayaan ay hango sa salitang “Laya” o isang kalagayan ng pagiging isang tunay na Malaya. Sa Pilipinas, ang Araw ng Kalayaan ay gumugunita sa ating kasarinlan o pagiging malaya mula sa mga mananakop. Pinagkalooban tayo ng karapatan na mamahala at kakayanan na magdesisyon base sa ating unawa at pasya. Gayunman, sa mahigit na isang siglo, sari-sari pa rin ang kinakaharap na “pagkakasakop” ng ating bayan, dahil sa ilang kawalan ng katarungan sa lipunan tayo’y mga bihag pa rin dulot ng kahirapan,

Sabi ni Hesus, “Sumasaakin ang Espiritu ng Panginoon, sapagka’t ako’y pinahiran niya upang ipangaral ang mabubuting balita sa mgadukha; Ako’y sinugo niya upang itanyag sa mga bihag ang pagkakaligtas, at sa mga bulag ang pagkakita, upang bigyan ng KALAYAAN ang nangaaapi” (Lucas 4:18)

Kaugnay nito, ang tagubilin na maging mga alagad ni Cristo ay araw-araw na paanyaya na tupdin at ipagpatuloy ang kaniyang mga gawain hindi lamang tuwing tayo ay nasa loob simbahan, kundi bilang mga miyembro ng Simbahan sa isang bansang malaya gaya ng Pilipinas.
