Radio Veritas 846, the number one faith-based AM radio station in the Philippines, will air its special programming, Dalangin at Ala-ala 2017 on November 1, All Saints’ Day and November 2, All Souls’ Day.
On November 1, Radio Veritas will begin its special programming with the program “The communion of Saints” with Rev. Fr. Joel Saballa, CFIC from 6:00 am to 8:00 am. This will be followed by another special program, “How does the Church choose saints? Is keeping statues or pictures of Saints idolatry?” with Rev. Fr. Nolan Que from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Another special program titled “Called to holiness” will be aired with Rev. Fr. Nick Lalog of the Diocese of Malolos and MK Guaño from 10:00 am to 11:55 am. The novena for the poor souls in purgatory will be recited after.
Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual, Radio Veritas president, will preside the Holy Mass at Loyola Memorial Park Chapel in Marikina City at 12:15 pm. The mass will also be aired live over Radio Veritas 846 for its listeners.
The “Good Samaritan” will be pre-empted for the special program titled, “the Churches militant, triumphant and suffering”, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with Rev. Fr. Larry Garces of the Diocese of Cubao and Rev. Fr. Dexter Toledo OFM, National Coordinator of the Ecological Justice Interfaith Movement.
On November 2, “Veritas Pilipinas” will give way for the airing of the special program “The biblical view of All Souls’ Day” from 6:00 am to 8:00 am with Rev. Fr. Saballa, CFIC.This will be followed by a special program titled “The truth about Cremation: Church’s standpoint”, with Fr. Nolan Que from 8:00am to 10:00 am. A special program “The Purgatory: Multo at paniniwala tungkol sa mga Kaluluwa” will also be aired from 10:00 am to 11:55 am with Rev. Fr. Nonette Legaspi of the Diocese of Novaliches and Mk Guaño.
The novena for the souls in purgatory will be aired at 12:00 noon followed by the Healing Mass at the Our Lady of Veritas chapel to be presided by Fr. Pascual at 12:15 pm. After the Mass, “What happens after death” will be aired with Rev. Fr. Bong Bongayan of the Diocese of Cubao and Rev. Fr. Toledo.
Regular programming will resume from 2:00 pm. Listeners will also be able to hear live reports and updates from Ronda Veritas.
All Saints’ Day is a solemn holiday commemorated annually on November 1, in honor of all the known and unknown saints of the Catholic Church. All Souls’ Day commemorated every second of November is the Catholic day of remembrance for the friends and loved ones who passed away. In the Philippines, this holiday is called “Undas”. During this time, Filipino families traditionally visit cemeteries and hold gatherings around the graves of their departed loved ones and lay out flowers and candles.
