Radio Veritas, the leading faith-based AM radio station in Mega Manila, is inviting the faithful to visit the relics and image of Blessed Luigi Maria Monti from June 15 to 25 at the Veritas Chapel in Quezon City.
Luigi Monti consecrated himself to God in 1846, at the age of 21, by professing the vows of chastity and obedience into the hands of his spiritual director. He was a faithful layman consecrated in the Church of God with neither convent nor habit.
He lead the group called “The Company of the Sacred Heart of Jesus” who stood out for austerity of life, dedication to the sick and the poor, and zeal in evangelizing those who had lapsed from the Church.
In 1941, Blessed Ildefonso Schuster, Archbishop of Milan, initiated the diocesan phase of the cause of beatification which lasted until 1951.
The relics are the material remains of saints or holy persons after their death, as well as objects sanctified by contact with their body. The Catholic Church employs the word to distinguish the body or whatever remains of a holy person after death, as well as objects that had an actual contact with the saint’s body during his lifetime.
Radio Veritas’ President Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual encouraged the faithful to participate in the event through prayers for clergy and consecrated persons.
“As we celebrate the Year of the Clergy and Consecrated Persons, let us pray for them to continue spreading the word of God, and may the Blessed Luigi Maria Monti be their inspiration in evangelizing and uniting us with our Lord Jesus Christ,” Fr. Pascual stated.
Faithful may pray before his image from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Our Lady of Veritas Chapel located at the second floor of Veritas Tower, 162 West Avenue cor. EDSA in Quezon City. For inquiries, please call Ms. Renee Jose or Mr. Lawrence Valdez at (02) 925-7932 to 39 local 129.
