Radio Veritas 846 won the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Golden Dove Award for best radio public service announcement for its advocacy during fire prevention month.
Veritas received the recognition during the awarding ceremonies held last April 29, 2016 at the Star Theatre, Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex, Pasay City.
Titled “Sunog”, the public service announcement aimed to provide awareness on how to avoid fire accidents, as well as tips on what to do during fire situations.
Radio Veritas President Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual thanked KBP for continuously recognizing its contribution to public service.
“Thank you KBP from all of us at Radio Veritas. Such recognition inspires us to strive harder to produce informative and timely public service announcements for the benefit of our listeners, and persevere in fulfilling our mission of spreading truth and new evangelization through our radio programs,” Fr. Pascual said.
In 2014, Radio Veritas won the same award for its election themed radio public service announcement “Karapatan Mo ang Bumoto”.
The KBP is the leading broadcast media organization in the country, composed of owners and operators of radio and television stations and the radio and television stations themselves.
The Golden Dove Awards is established by the KBP to recognize individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to the advancement of the broadcast industry and to encourage excellence and high professional standards in the broadcast media as well as to promote more responsible broadcasting.
For its role in the EDSA People Power Revolution in 1986, Radio Veritas received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Journalism, Literature, and Creative Communication Arts. The Ramon Magsaysay Award Board of Trustees recognized Radio Veritas’ crucial role in using the truth to depose an oppressive and corrupt regime and restore the Filipino faith in the electoral process.
