On December 10, 1958, the delegates of the Conventus Episcopaum, Asiae-Autro-Orientalis gathered at the Central Seminary of the University of Santo Tomas decided to operate and maintain a Catholic radio station to serve as an instrument of evangelization and information in Eastern Asia and Oceania.

            On April 11, 1969, Radio Veritas studios in Fairview, Quezon City was formally inaugurated by His Eminence Antonio Cardinal Samore representing the Vatican, and His Eminence Manila Archbishop Rufino Cardinal Santos.

            The following year, on November 29, 1970, His Holiness Pope Paul VI visited Radio Veritas. The Supreme Pontiff gave two gold chalice as his gift, and blessed the station and its staff.

            Radio Veritas bravely covered the assassination of former Senator Benigno ‘Ninoy’ Aquino. Radio Veritas personnel were stationed at the then Manila International Airport on that fateful day of August 21, 1983 and were able to broadcast live from the airport the news of the shooting of Aquino at the tarmac. Radio Veritas was also the only station to broadcast the slain senator’s funeral procession from Santo Domingo Church to Manila Memorial Park with two million people lining the streets.

           It was through Radio Veritas that Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin made the call to the people on February 22, 1986 to converge on EDSA to prevent bloodshed and support then Minister of Defense Juan Ponce Enrile and Vice Chief of Staff Fidel Ramos. The call of Cardinal Sin over Radio Veritas ushered in the four-day bloodless revolution now known as EDSA 1 People Power Revolution.

            Due the continuous airing of the events unfolding at EDSA, several armed men destroyed the transmitter of Radio Veritas at Malolos. Some personnel were hurt in the event.

         That same year, Radio Veritas received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Journalism, Literature, and Creative Communication Arts. The Ramon Magsaysay Award Board of Trustees recognized Radio Veritas’ crucial role in using the truth to depose an oppressive and corrupt regime and restore the Filipino faith in the electoral process.

            In 1991, Radio Veritas was transformed into a commercial station. It also severed ties with Radio Veritas Asia and changed its call sign to DZNN. It was in 1997 that it went back to its previous call sign. It was also during this period that the station transferred its studio to several locations – from Quezon City to Makati, then to Ortigas, until it was able to settle to its present studio in West Avenue corner EDSA in Quezon City.

            In 2005, with the appointment of a new management, the station was relaunched with a new logo, and its religious programming and public service were strengthen for the benefit of the Catholic faithful.

            On April 2008, Radio Veritas established its Kapanalig Radio Community to further engage its listeners and deepen its vision and mission as the station for truth and evangelization.

            The station also transferred its transmitter from Malolos City, Bulacan to Barangay Taliptip, Bulacan, Bulacan.

            Currently, Veritas is going beyond Radio through its website and social media platforms. It is also planning to extend its reach to television through its partnership with TV Maria.
