Bilang pakikiisa ng simbahan sa paghahanda sa nalalapit na halalan, inilunsad ng Archdiocese ng Jaro ang inisyatibo o CHAMP Sunday ngayong July 4.
Ang CHAMP o Clean, Honest, Accurate, Meaningful and Peaceful election ay ang kampanya ng Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) na ang layunin ay mapukaw ang kamalayan ng mamamayan sa pakikisangkot sa usapin ng pulitika lalu na nakatakdang halalan sa 2022.
“This Sunday, July 4, 2021, the Archdiocese of Jaro will celebrate CHAMP Sunday. This initiative will awaken the Church’s call to be evangelizers in the field of politics and to be active collaborators, promoters, and preservers of a Clean, Honest, Accurate, Meaningful and Peaceful election,” ayon sa post ng Facebook page ng Archdiocese of Jaro, Commission on Social Communications
Ayon sa pamunuan ng arkidiyosesis bahagi ng layunin ng ng CHAMP Sunday ay hikayatin ang mamamayan lalu na ang mga kabataan na magpatala sa voters’ registration na isinasagawa ng Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
“The Archdiocese, through CHAMP Sunday, also aims to encourage all citizens, most especially the youth and the deactivated voters, to exercise their right to vote by registering and participating in the upcoming 2022 elections. May this initiative re-ignite our mission to our country and for the building of a just, humane, and democratic society,” ayon pa sa pahayag.
Una ng umapela ng tulong ang COMELEC sa Simbahan upang makahikayat pa ng mga magpaparehistro sa kasalukuyang voters’ registration hanggang September 30, 2021.
