Everybody is invited to come and join as the Archdiocese of Manila celebrates a month-long Marian Jubilee for the Year of Mercy this October 2016.
The celebration is dedicated to Mary as the Mother of Mercy and Jesus, the face of the father’s Mercy.
The Archdiocese of Manila with the help and support of the Office for the Promotion of the New Evangelization (OPNE), the Campus Ministry under the Commission on Youth Affairs and the Marian Solidarity for Pope Francis has come up with a series of that the faithful are encouraged to be part of.
On October 1, 2016, the “Conference on the Face of Mercy: God’s Mercy through Mary” will be held at the San Carlos Seminary Auditorium in Guadalupe, Makati City. Kalookan Bishop H. E. Most Rev. Pablo Virgilio S. David, D.D. will be the speaker
Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, D.D., meanwhile, will lead the celebration of the Marian Jubilee at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (Manila Cathedral) in Intramuros, Manila on October 7, 2017. The event will begin at 2:00 with a procession to commence at San Agustin Church patio while reciting the prayer and chaplet of the Divine Mercy. Among those who will give the reflection and witnessing on Mary as the Mother of Mercy are Rev. Fr. Catalino Arevalo, SJ, Amb. Howard Q. Dee and other youth representatives. The event will be culminated with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist led by Cardinal Tagle.
October 9, 2016 is also designated as “A Day of Mercy” where mandated lay organizations in the parishes are to undertake various works of mercy.
The start of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy was formally announced by the Vatican on December 8, 2015 (Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception) where the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica was opened and will conclude on November 20, 2016 (Solemnity of the Lord Jesus Christ as King of the Universe).
