Radio Veritas anchor Alegria A. Javier-Obien known as “Ate Baby” died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the age of 77 after a battle with bile duct cancer.
Ate Baby joined Radio Veritas in 1991. Before her death, was a co-anchor of the religious program, “God will make a way”, airing every Sunday from 9:00am to 10:00am at Radio Veritas846.
Radio Veritas Executive Director and her former co-anchor Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual said that Tita Baby is a searcher for meaning and purpose. She longs for the infinite that will bring healing, restoration and wholeness to brokennes, and her spirituality is towards convergence and peace.
Her wake is at the St. Peter’s Chapel, Commonwealth Ave.,Tandang Sora,Quezon City. Her body will be laid to rest at the Himlayang Pilipino Memorial Park in Quezon City. On Saturday, November 19, 2016, a Holy Mass dedicated to Mrs. Obien will be presided by Rev. Fr. Bong Bongayan, SVD at the Our Lady of Veritas Chapel in Quezon City at 12:15nn.
Mrs. Obien is the founder and principal facilitator of the seminar workshop of the Healing the Eight Stages of Life (HESL) Ministries. She authored the book A Path to Wholeness: Healing the Eight Stages of Life on which the HESL workshop is based. She is also a lecturer in the Catholic Life in the Spirit (CLSS) and Parish Renewal Experience (PREX) seminars.
She is a Registered Guidance Counselor (RGC) and active member of the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association (PGCA). She is also an associate member of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP).She worked as a counselor and human resource speaker at the Center for Family Ministries (CEFAM).
Mrs. Obien graduated from the University of the Philippines, Diliman and took a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of the East. A former bank executive and entrepreneur, she chose a life dedicated to counseling and family ministry. She pursued a Professional Diploma and apprenticeship in Pastoral Ministry from the RMT-Center for Family Ministries (RMT-CEFAM), Ateneo de Manila University. She also finished her Master Degree in Pastoral Counseling, Family Ministry, at the Loyola School of Theology and pursued her Ph.D in Developmental Psychology at Miriam College.
