As Caritas Manila and Radio Veritas aim to raise awareness and funds for Caritas Damayan, the leading faith-based am station will have a special programming on Holy Monday, April 10, 2017 in line with the Alay Kapwa Telethon 2017.
The special programming will kick off through the public affair program “Veritas Pilipinas” at 6am with guests Caritas Manila Executive Director Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual and National Secretariat for Social Action-Justice and Peace (NASSA)/Caritas Philippines Executive Secretary Rev. Fr. Edu Gariguez. They will discuss the objective and mission of Alay Kapwa.
The public affairs program, “Barangay Simbayanan” at 8am will talk about the Catholic Church’s response to calamities with guests His Eminence Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, D.D., Caritas Damayan Minister Rev. Fr. Ric Valencia, Caritas Damayan Program Manager Gilda Avedillo, and Diocese of Surigao Social Action Director Rev. Fr. Mario Espanio. The program will also discuss the preparations of Metro Manila for disasters with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) representative.
At 10am, the magazine program, “Pamilya mo, Pamilya ko” will feature families who help the poor and the needy through their support to Caritas Manila.
The 12nn Holy Mass will also be dedicated to the intentions of Alay Kapwa to be presided by Fr. Anton Pascual and Fr. Ric Valencia.
Meanwhile, the public service program “Caritas sa Veritas” will have Caritas Damayan Health Program Consultant Dra. Madelaine Valeria, as guest to talk about the expansion and development of Caritas Damayan into Health Services. Catholics’ Bishop Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Health Care (CBCP-ECHC) Executive Secretary Fr. Dan Cancino will also be interviewed to discuss the Church Services for Health.
From 3pm to 6pm, a special program “Caritas at Veritas” to be moderated by Radio Veritas’ advocates, Reyn Letran, Riza Mendoza, Yana Villajos and Rowel Garcia will talk about the environmental situation of the country. They will also feature interviews with some of the Youth Servant Leadership Program (YSLEP) of Caritas Manila to talk about their experiences as students during calamities.
The whole day programming will be wrapped up with the interview with Caritas Manila’s Financial Stewardship Department Head, Ms. Kiel Fernandez and some Caritas Manila’s ever-supporting donors.
