Caritas Manila will launch its annual Back-to-School Telethon over Veritas 846 on Monday, June 18, 2018, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This is in line with their theme “Tithing for the Poor” to remind that faithful that 10% of our income or earnings shall be given to the Church or charitable institutions including the social development of the Archdiocese of Manila, Caritas Manila.
Proceeds of the telethon will be allotted to support the scholars under Caritas Manila’s Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP).
Last year, Caritas Manila gathered a total amount of PhP3,503,864.50, which provided educational and financial assistance to almost 5,000 YSLEP scholars nationwide.
Pope Francis said in one of his weekly general audience at St. Peters Square that if a person wants God’s mercy, then let it start from being merciful himself and every Christian must think of what they have and what others don’t.
“If they have too many things, give some to someone who has nothing; 10 percent or 50 percent. The Holy Spirit will inspire you.” Pope Francis stated.
Caritas Manila Executive Director Fr. Anton CT Pascual encourages the faithful to join and share in the Back-to-School Telethon to produce more graduates and help a household get out of poverty through your charity, donations and tithe.
