Nagluluksa ang Diocese of Marbel sa pagpanaw ni Bishop Emeritus Dinualdo Gutierrez na 37 taong naglingkod sa mga mananampalataya sa South Cotabato.
Ayon kay Father Angel Buenavides, tagapagsalita ng diyosesis, hindi matatawaran ang pagmamahal at paglilingkod na inialay ng Obispo hindi lamang sa mga mananampalatayang katoliko kun’di maging sa mga katutubong naninirahan sa bahaging ito ng Mindanao.
Sinabi ng pari na sa 37 taong pamamahala ni Bishop Gutierrez ay napagtibay ng husto at naparami ang mga maliliit na sambayanang kristiyano sa bawat parokya ng kanilang diyosesis.
Dagdag pa niya, napalakas din ang Social Action at Faith Formation ng bawat lipunan sa kanilang lugar.
“S’ya lang yung naging Obispo namin for the last 37 years at dahil sa kanya napalakas namin naparami ang mga maliliit na sambayanang Kristiyano, naging malinaw yung ministry ng simbahan sa buong diocese sa bawat parokya kaya kahit naglilipatan yung bawat pari, hindi mo na kailangang mag introduce pa ng iba pang programa kasi napaka linaw sa buong diocese na ano yung mga programa sa Social action, sa faith formation at sa lipunan.” bahagi ng pahayag ni Father Buenavides sa Radyo Veritas.
Bukod dito, sinabi pa ni Father Buenavides na isa din sa hindi matatawarang impluwensya ni Bishop Gutierrez ay ang mariing pagtutol nito sa anu mang uri ng pagmimina sa kanilang lugar.
Isa sa nakilalang imahe ni Bishop Gutierrez ay ang pagiging makakalikasan nito at ang pagmamahal niya sa mga katutubo at sa kagubatang nagsisilbi nilang tahanan.
Dahil dito, naninindigan si Father Buenavides na hindi magbabago ang prinsipyong ito ng Diocese of Marbel hinggil sa usaping pangkalikasan, dahil sa ipinamalas na pamumuno ni Bishop Gutierrez.
“Napakalakas yung imahe at siguro isa sa pinaka malakas at hanggang ngayon [ay] napaka laking impluwensya, yung pagtutol namin sa pagmimina at pangangalaga sa kapaligiran. Kahit na ilan na ang malalaking kumpanya ang pumasok dito hindi nagbago yung katayuan, yung prinsipyo ng Diocese of Marbel na tutol sa pagmimina dahil yan sa pamumuno ni Bishop Gutierrez.” Pagbabahagi ng pari sa Radyo Veritas.
Si Bishop Gutierrez na pumanaw sa edad na 79 ay matagal nang mayroong karamdamang chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Kaugnay dito nanawagan naman ang kasalukuyang Obispo ng Diocese of Marbel na si Bishop Cerilo Casicas ng panalangin para sa kaluluwa ni Bishop Gutierrez na nakatakda sanang magdiwang ng kan’yang ika-80 taong kaarawan sa ika-20 ng Pebrero.
It is with great sadness that the church of the Diocese of Marbel announce the death of Most. Rev. Dinualdo Destajo Gutierrez, D.D – bishop Emeritus of Marbel. He passed away 5:03 in the morning February 10, 2019 in the grace of the Lord at General Santos Doctor’s Hospital. He is 79 years old.
Bp.Donald as he is fondly called was born February 20, 1939 in Romblon. He was ordained priest April 7, 1962 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral Roxas City. On January 28, 1981, he was ordained bishop at Our Lady of Mt.Carmel Church Roxas City
He served the Diocese of Marbel as bishop since October 1, 1981 until Pope Francis accepted his resignation due to old age last April 28, 2018. For 37 years, he guided the church of Marbel as bishop creating and strengthening the Basic Ecclesial Communities, deepening the faith of the people through Christian formations and conscientization of people minds and heart to protect and defend human rights and integrity of creation.
The Church of Marbel continues to make a strong stand against all forms of destruction of the environment like Mining, Aerial Spray of Chemicals in plantations, Coal Fired Power Plants and other forms of environmental destruction because of his legacy.
He served as Chairman of Episcopal Commission on Social Action-Justice & Peace on1997 and had been its chairman for many years.
