Radio Veritas is inviting the faithful to take part in the First Friday Holy Hour devotion on October 7, 2017 at the Radio Veritas Chapel in Quezon City.
Rev. Fr. Dexter Toledo OFM, National Coordinator of the Ecological Justice Interfaith Movement, will preside the first Friday Holy Hour devotion and confession from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. This will be followed by the first Friday Holy mass at the Veritas Chapel to be celebrated by Msgr. Dan Sta. Maria, Parish Priest of Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish at 12:15pm.
The First Friday Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is based on a promise made by our Lord Jesus Christ during an apparition to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 17th century.
“In the excess of the mercy of My Heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour.”
The devotion consists of several practices that are performed on the first Fridays of nine consecutive months. On these days, a person is to attend Holy Mass and receive communion. In many Catholic communities the practice of the Holy Hour of meditation during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament during the First Fridays is encouraged.
