Turn your #selfie to #helpie!
Radio Veritas the leading faith-based AM station in the Philippines launches #HELPIE, an On-Air and Social Media Campaign that seeks to promote altruism and charity.
In celebration of the International Day of Charity, the station aims to contribute in the promotion of selflessness and mutual understanding among netizens by changing social media posting paradigms from #SELFIE to #HELPIE.
Through this social media campaign Radio Veritas through its on-air (radio), social media and cable TV platforms shall encourage netizens to post images of people helping others (using the hash tag #helpie) in the Facebook page of Radio Veritas (www.facebook.com/Veritasph) from September 5-16, 2016. Creative and heartwarming images will then be acknowledged with a simple token and gift from its project partners BIOESSENCE, CHICKEN DELI and TROPICAL HUT.
As we celebrate the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, His Holiness Pope Francis calls us to exercise compassion and do acts of charity.
“Charity is born of the call of a God who continues to knock on our door, the door of all people, to invite us to love, to compassion, to service of one another,” Pope Francis said.
The International Day of Charity was established with the objective of sensitizing and mobilizing people, NGOs, and stakeholders all around the world to help others through volunteer and philanthropic activities.
The date of September 5 was chosen in order to commemorate the anniversary of the passing away of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 “for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitute a threat to peace.” She will be canonized as saint on September 4, 2016.
