Catholics are invited to venerate the images of Our Lady of Fatima on September 13 and Our Lady of Sorrows on September 15 at the Veritas Chapel.
As part of Radio Veritas’ initiatives to take part in the celebration of the centennial of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima this year, the station holds a monthly devotion in her honor. It is held every 13th of the month to signify her six apparitions which also aims to prepare devotees for the celebration by giving them a chance to venerate her image from the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Valenzuela City and pray the rosary at 11:30am.
Our Lady of Fatima is a Roman Catholic title of the Blessed Virgin Mary based on her six apparitions to three shepherd children; Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta near the town of Fatima. The Blessed Mother repeatedly emphasized the need to pray the Rosary every day, to wear the Brown Scapular of Mount Carmel and to perform acts of reparation and sacrifice in all her appearances every 13th of the month from May to October 1917.
Devotees are also invited to venerate the image of Our Lady of Sorrows and to profess their pledge of devotion in celebration of her feast on September 15, 2017. Faithful who will pledge their devotion will receive a Certificate and Holy Water. Prayer request, petition, thanksgiving and other intentions of her devotees will be offered at the Holy Mass and rosary prayer at the Our Lady of Veritas Chapel on September 15. Also, their names will be announced in the different programs of the station.
The title, Our Lady of Sorrows, given to the Blessed Mother focuses on the seven daggers that punctured the heart or Mary during her lifetime; When Mary presented Jesus at the Jewish temple where he first bled; When the Holy Family fled into Egypt to escape Herod’s slaughter of innocents; When Jesus was lost for three days and was found in the temple with the Pharisees; When Mary met Jesus on the road to Calvary; When Jesus was nailed to the cross and died; When Jesus was taken down from the cross and laid in the arms of Mary; And when Jesus was laid in the tomb.
Radio Veritas also invites the public for the public veneration of the image of Our Lady of Peńafrancia together with the manto once used for the original image from the minor basilica in Naga City enshrined at the Radio Veritas chapel from September 8 to 17, 2016, and the icon of Nuestra Seńora dela Soledad de Porta Vaga (Our Lady of Solitude of Porta Vaga) from September 10 to 17, 2017.
