“In signing the certificate of transfer and completion of the Maribojoc church and shrine, as I did for the previous turn-overs of the other structures, I accept the responsibility and commit to maintaining the restored or reconstructed churches, on behalf of my pastoral constituents,” bahagi ng pahayag ni Bishop Uy.
Kasabay ng turn-over ng Maribojoc Church ay natapos na rin ang National Government’s Calamity- Related National Heritage Restoration and Reconstruction Program.
Sa 25 heritage and historic churches ng diyosesis na napinsala ng 7.2 magnitude na lindol noong 2013, 11 rito ang kinilala ng National Government bilang national cultural treasures, national historical landmarks, and important cultural properties.
Sa kasalukuyan, naibalik na sa dating anyo ang 11 simbahan sa tulong ng National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), National Museum of the Philippines (NMP), Provincial Government of Bohol at pakikiisa ng mananampalataya sa reconstruction.
“The rehabilitation of our historic churches signified an all-of-nation approach where each contributes to nation-building devoted to well-being. It is incontrovertible proof that the cooperation of Church and State, guided by mutual bilateral agreements, does work,” ani Bishop Uy.
Ginawa ang turn-over ceremony kasabay ng kapistahan ng Our Lady of Guadalupe kung saan bukod sa mga opisyal ng pamahalaan dumalo rin sa pagtitipon si Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines Jorge Moragas Sanchez at Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles John Brown.
