Kinilala ng opisyal ng Catholics Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) ang mga hakbang ng Department of Education (DepEd) sa paglulunsad ng mga proyekto at progamang tumutugon sa suliranin ng edukasyon na kinakaharap ng Pilipinas.
Ito ay nang isapubliko ng DepEd ang opisyal na pahayag sa pagkakaroon ng mga programang katulad ng Bawat Bata Bumabasa (3Bs), Mother Tongue-Based of Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) at iba pang programa matapos ihayag ng World Bank (WB) na 90% ng mga kabataang mag-aaral na nasa edad sampu pababa ang nakakaraanas ng “Learning Poverty” na ngangahulugan na sila’y hirap o halos hindi marunong magbasa’t magsulat.
Inihayag ni CBCP- Episcopal Commission on Youth (CBCP-ECY) Chairman Daet Bishop Rex Andrew Alarcon ang pag-asa sa tulong din ng programang Sulong EduKalidad and Basic Education Development Plan (BEDP) 2030 ng DepEd.
“Hopefully, the Sulong EduKalidad and Basic Education Development Plan (BEDP) 2030 will not simply aim at interventions but towards a culture of quality education, which the country needs- Again, we affirm, it takes a village to raise a child, The 21st century competencies, esp. Critical Thinking, Communication, Creativity and especially Collaboration need to be operative among all stakeholders in addressing the educational emergency and in the face of the challenges of the pandemic,” ayon sa mensahe ng Obispo sa Radio Veritas
Hinimok rin ni Bishop Alarcon ang lahat na alamin ang puno’t dulo ng suliranin upang wasto itong matugunan at maiwasan sa ikabubuti ng kalagayan ng mga estudyante sa bansa.
“Any improvement begins with the recognition of the problem, in our case, learning poverty. It would greatly help to measure the results of these interventions especially in terms of scope and depth,” ayon sa Obispo.
Inihayag din ng Obispo na kinakailangan din ang pakikiisa ng mga nakapaligid na indibidwal sa sektor ng edukasyon upang mapag-tibay ang mga hakbang na tutugon sa Learning Poverty ng mga Kabataan.
“A more philosophical approach might help, that is, practitioners –educators, teachers and students, parents and of course DepED agents, truly understand the reasons, the WHY, for the interventions, And indeed- addressing learning poverty must be a long term integrated approach,” ani Bishop Alarcon.
Apela pa ng Obispo ang pagkakaroon ng sapat na suporta ng pamahalaan sa DepEd.
“Hopefully DepED gets the support it needs. The future of our country is in our young people,” ayon pa sa Mensahe ni Bishop Alarcon.
