Radio Veritas 846, the number one faith-based Radio in the Philippines, will air the feast day activities of the Diocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu in San Mateo, Rizal on Friday.
Listeners of Radio Veritas will be able to hear live reports and interviews in its programs Barangay Simbayanan and Pamilya Mo, Pamilya Ko from eight in the morning till noon of September 9, 2016.
The public may also visit the Veritas booth to avail of religious and souvenir items on sale as well as to join or renew their membership to the Kapanalig Church community.
In 1689, the Jesuit priests who formally replaced the Augustinian priests in San Mateo brought the image of the Virgin Mary from the town of Aranzazu, Nueva Vizcaya, Spain. Fr. Juan Echazabal, a Jesuit priest started the devotion to our Lady of Aranzazu from Spain and changed the patron of the town from St. Matthew to Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu.
The Parish of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu was proclaimed as a Diocesan Shrine by the Vatican in 2004, being the only church in the Philippines under the title of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu and only sister-parish of the Basilica of Aranzazu in Spain. At present, Rev. Fr. Lawrence (Larry) C. Paz serves as the Rector and Parish Priest of the Diocesan Shrine.
This September 2016 also marks the year-long celebration of the tercentennial anniversary of the enthronement of Nuestra Senora De Aranzazu as the patroness of San Mateo, Rizal. Furthermore, the Holy Father has approved the petition for the canonical coronation of the image of Mary under this title on May 31, 2017.
“Barangay Simbayanan” is the news and social concerns program that features Church ministries, commissions, organizations and lay groups that responds to a particular need of a sector or community. Anchored by Ms. Angelique Lazo with different priests for each day, the program airs from Monday to Friday from 8 to 10 am. Meanwhile, “Pamilya Mo, Pamilya Ko” is a magazine program discusses family matters. It is anchored by Bernard Canaberal and Jovie Barreto with priest anchors and also airs from Monday to Friday, from 10 to 11:55 in the morning.
