1. The RADIO VERITAS Liturgical Songwriting Contest is a songwriting contest open to all Catholic songwriters.

2. Each songwriter or a collaboration of songwriters (lyricist/s and composer/s) may submit a maximum of 2 entries.

3. Theme: “Synodality: Fellowship, Participation and Mission“

4. Song entries:

     a. Must either be in Filipino or in English
     b. Must be a liturgical song (for mass) intended to be sung by a choir during processionals – entrances, offertory, communion and recessional.
     c. May be a slow or fast song using a musical type appropriate to the celebration of the mass.
     d. Must not exceed 5 minutes in length including intro and extro.
     e. Maximum of 4 voicing SATB.
     f. Must be recorded and interpreted well, preferably pre-arranged.
     g. Minimum of 8 maximum of 15 choir members is allowed and endorsed by the Parish Priest.

5. Each entry must include the following:

     a. Fully accomplished entry form with original signature(s) and 2×2 ID photo of songwriter/s.
     b. USB drive containing 1 song only indicating the title of the song on the case and on the USB itself but without the name of the songwriter/s.
     c. Five (5) typewritten copies of the sheet music with the title of the song but without the name of the songwriter/s.

6. Submission of entries:

     a. All of the above requirements must be placed in a brown envelope and mailed or hand
          carried to:

     b. Participants sending two entries must send them in two (2) separate envelopes.
     c. All entries shall be non-returnable.
     d. All entries must be submitted on or before September 30, 2023.

Originality and Creativity – 30% (applied songwriting style, technique, skill)

Lyrics – 25% (effectiveness, message, appropriateness for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist)

Melody – 25% (recall, strength, singable)

Overall Appeal – 10% (suitable as recording and commercial / liturgical material)

Text Voting – 10% (public/social media appeal)

April 9, 2023 – Launch of Contest

September 30, 2023 – Last day of submission of entries

Date to be announced – Announcement of Finalists

Date to be announced – Mall/Parish Tour of Finalists

November 22, 2023 – Grand Finals (Feast of St. Cecilia – Patron of Musicians and Composers)

1. Twelve (12) finalists will be chosen and shall be included in an album production.

2. Top winners shall be awarded the following: 1st Prize – P300,000; 2nd Prize – P150,000; 3rd Prize – P75,000 (with Trophy and certificate to all members of the choir). The rest of the finalists will receive a cash prize of P 10,000 plus Plaque.

3. All finalists shall waive their rights to their winning songs in favor of RADIO VERITAS for the album production, for general publication (in magazines, praise songbooks, etc.), for promotional use (radio airplay, performance on TV, internet, etc.) and for general evangelization purposes (praise and worship concerts and mass, etc.) locally and/or internationally with the proper and due acknowledgment and recognition of the songwriter/s.

4. Only participants who have reached the top 12 finalists shall waive their rights to their qualifying and winning songs.

5. Costs of transportation, accommodation, attendance to events and other expenses related to the contest shall be shouldered by the participant/s.

6. The decision of the board of judges is final.
