Radio Veritas 846, the leading faith-based AM radio station in the Philippines, will air a special programming on Monday, June 6, 2016 for the Caritas Telethon 2016 for the Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP) scholars.
Veritas846 will start its special programming at 6:00am with anchors, Ms. Jing Manipol Lanzona and Fr. Nono Alfonso. They will interview some of the beneficiaries from urban areas like Archdiocese of Manila and nearby dioceses.
From 9:00am to 11:55am, Ms. Angelique Lazo will continue the special programming and will focus on the beneficiaries from the rural areas like children of farmers, indigenous people and Muslims among others. They will also be inviting representatives from Caritas Society of Servant Leaders.
After the Eucharistic Celebration at 12:15nn to be presided by Caritas Manila Executive Director Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual, Dennis “Ka Dune” Geron will sit as anchor from 1:00 pm to 4: 00 pm and will feature interviews with the benefactors of Caritas Manila.
The government response to the educational needs of the marginalized sectors and updates on Department of Education programs will be discussed with Veritas advocates Riza Mendoza and Romeo Ojero II. The special programming will wrap up with an update of the total donations raised at 6:00 pm.
YSLEP is the flagship program of Caritas Manila which extends financial assistance to poor but deserving youth, trains and hones the youth not only for academic excellence but also to become servant leaders and good members of the community.
To date, Caritas Manila has produced over 10,000 graduates and continues to provide educational assistance, values formation workshops, and leadership trainings to almost 5,000 students nationwide with an average of 300 college and technical/vocational graduating yearly.
Caritas Manila Executive Director, Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual appealed support to Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program.
“Education is the best way to liberate families from poverty. Please support Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program to send more youth to school and help reduce poverty,” Fr. Pascual said.
