Radio Veritas 846, the leading faith-based AM radio station in the Philippines, will air a special programming on February 25, 2016 for the launching of Alay Kapwa program live from Our Lady of Caysasay Academy Taal, Batangas.
The public affairs program “Barangay Simbayanan” will give way for the special airing of the Alay Kapwa launching to be anchored by Fr. Edu Gariguez, Executive Secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-National Secretariat for Social Action (CBCP-NASSA) and Fr. Jayson Siapco, Director of Lipa Archdiocesan Social Action Commission, Inc. from 8:00am-10:00am.
Radio Veritas President Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual encourages all the Kapanalig to take part and listen to the special programming of Radio Veritas for the Alay Kapwa launch to have better understanding of the objectives and mission of the program and how it will benefit the different advocacies of the church.
Alay Kapwa is the Lenten evangelization and fundraising program of the Catholic Church in the Philippines through CBCP-NASSA to raise consciousness and funds for calamities and major social concerns.
The Church encourages the faithful to support the second collection of all the parishes for the six Sundays of Lent (February 14 to March 20) to raise funds for Alay Kapwa to support the social services to the poor, especially those who suffer during the natural and human-caused calamities and for disaster risk reduction programs.
In the Archdiocese of Manila, for instance, the fund raised from the second collection for the six Sundays will be for the benefit of Caritas Manila’s Damayan relief assistance, emergency response and humanitarian aid.
His Eminence Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle, D.D., in his Pastoral Letter for Alay Kapwa 2016, stressed that the Alay Kapwa funds get depleted immediately due to the increasing number and magnitude of the calamities being responded to by Caritas Damayan. He appealed support to Alay Kapwa.
“Once again we appeal to you my brothers and sisters to support Alay Kapwa. In this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, let us heed the call of Pope Francis to practice mercy through concrete acts of charity,” Cardinal Tagle added.
Radio Veritas 846 is owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Manila. Established in 1969, the Ramon Magsaysay recipient Catholic radio station continues to be the leading social communications ministry for truth and new evangelization in the country today.
