Radio Veritas 846 is set to air the Eucharistic celebration at the Minor Basilica and Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Intramuros, Manila for the “Red Wednesday campaign” on November 22, 2017 with the delayed broadcast at 6 pm.
The Holy Mass will be presided by the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Most Rev. Gabriele Giordano Caccia, D.D., with Prelate of Marawi Most Rev. Edwin Dela Peña, MSP, D.D. as homilist.
This is in support of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) call to support the campaign which aims to illuminate all cathedrals, national shrines, and minor basilicas with red lights to remember the blood of the faithful who have been killed because of the Christian faith.
All participating churches and schools from the 78 dioceses and four Catholic schools nationwide will celebrate the Holy Mass and hold the lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m., which would be followed by a prayer for all persecuted Christians and the lighting of the churches.
The station will pre-empt its program “Ang Turo ng Inang Simbahan,” with anchor Mr. Lito David to make way for the airing of the campaign.
The Red Wednesday campaign was started by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) United Kingdom in 2016 to create awareness of the plight of persecuted Christians around the world.
ACN is a Pontifical Foundation established to assist the needs of the Church wherever it is oppressed, persecuted or suffering material need.
Recently, Radio Veritas received a grant from ACN for Catholink, Veritas’ Catholic Knowledge Management System for the purpose of technology enhancement and promotion to help the Churches in the far-flung areas that experience difficulty in communication.
Radio Veritas 846, the leading faith-based AM station in Mega Manila, is owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Manila. Established in 1969, the Ramon Magsaysay recipient Catholic radio station continues to be the leading social communications ministry for truth and new evangelization in the country today.
