There is a proper time for everything. There is a proper time to plant. There is also the proper time harvest. And for Jesus, there was a period when He allowed the Pharisees to criticize Him, to make fun of Him, to ridicule Him. He allowed the Scribes and the Pharisees to question Him, even though He knew they were not after knowledge but only after expressing their hostility towards Him.
That was the time when Jesus took the slings and arrows thrown at Him by the ill-motivated Pharisees and Scribes.
But there is also a time for putting people in their place, for silencing evil mouths. There is also a time for arguing back.
There is also a time for setting things right. That time also came for Jesus.
Jesus answered back with a question. He did not answer their question; to Him, there was no need for that. As it were, He was simply saying, “Enough is enough.”
My only prayer for you, my dear sisters and brothers today, is that we may also learn when is the right time.
There is a time for criticizing. There is a time for fighting.
But there is also a time for peace. There is a time for talking but there is also a time for action. There is a time for analysis but there is also a time for decision-making. If we just analyze and criticize, take the blows, one after the other, this will not be pleasing to God.
May the Lord bless us with wisdom so we may know the right time to do things.
THE RIGHT TIME
