Radio Veritas, the leading faith-based AM station in the Mega Manila, is set to air the announcement of Caritas Internationalis’ “Share the Journey” campaign for migrants by His Holiness Pope Francis at St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
Listeners will be able to hear live broadcast of the official announcement of the “Share the Journey” campaign for migrants along with live reports and interviews.
The station will pre-empt its programs from 4pm – 5pm to make way for the broadcast of the announcement of the campaign for migrants at 10:30 a.m. Rome time (4:30 p.m. in Manila) with Rev. Fr. Gregory Gaston live from Vatican.
There will also be live updates of the simultaneous events launched by the Archdiocese of Manila. Live reports and interviews will be aired for the 9am forum with Lumads at Caritas Manila, and the 11 am forum with Muslim migrants to be held at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene/ St. John the Baptist Parish, Quiapo, Manila. The station will also air live the forum from Adamson University regarding Foreign immigrant students in the Philippines with Radio Veritas’ Rowel Garcia and Caritas Philippines Senior Communications Officer Jingrey Henderson
Caritas Internationalis President His Eminence Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle D.D., invites all Catholics to join in unity with Pope Francis in launching the global campaign for migrants.
“We invite all parish, diocesan and national organizations around the world to accompany Pope Francis by launching our global campaign in your countries on September 27, 2016. The aim of our campaign is to promote the culture of encounter in communities where migrants and refugees leave and return to, where they travel through and where they choose to make their homes.”
In his invitation to the faithful, Cardinal Tagle also emphasized that the worldwide campaign will recognize and understand the millions of refugees and migrants who leave their country to escape war and work abroad.
“Through Share the Journey we hope to dispel fear and understand why so many people are leaving their homes at this time of history. We also want to inspire communities to build relationships with refugees and migrants. We want to shine a light and lead the way. Migration is a very old story but our campaign aims to help communities see it with new eyes and an open heart.” he added.
Cardinal Tagle also said, the “Share the Journey” is a response of Caritas to Pope Francis’ numerous campaign to promote the culture of encounter in an effort to combat the culture of indifference in the world today.
According to the Archdiocese of Manila –Office of Communication, expected to promote the said campaign are the 165 members of Caritas Internationalis and will be supported by the ACT Alliance, a coalition of 146 churches and faith-based organizations working together in over 100 countries and a variety of religious congregations and civil society group.
