Sanlakbay is a parish community-based rehabilitation program that further encourages more drug dependents to surrender, undergo rehabilitation, and give themselves another chance to start a new life. It was launched by Cardinal Tagle last October 23, 2016 as a response of the Catholic Church to the Philippine government’s war against illegal drugs.
The rehabilitation program was set up in parishes to reach people supplemented by 12 modules given to participants. Drug dependents have undergone spiritual formation, counseling, livelihood projects, and skills formation training, as well as arts and cultural program and sports activities that will help them develop holistically.
Last October 13, 2017, Manila Archbishop Broderick Pabillo presided a Thanksgiving Mass for the eighty drug surrenderers who have undergone and graduated from the six-month rehabilitation program of Sanlakbay.
Radio Veritas President Rev. Fr. Anton CT Pascual invites the public to join the celebration of the anniversary of the Church through the station.
“Let us all tune in to the station of the truth and listen to the Holy Mass to be presided by Cardinal Tagle for the anniversary of Sanlakbay sa Pagbabagong Buhay. It has been a year since we undertook the parish and community-based approach to address drug dependency and we have seen success stories. Let the station be God’s instrument for you to be part of this milestone,” Fr. Pascual said.
