“The practice of pilgrimage has a special place in the Holy Year, because it represents the journey each of us makes in this life,” Pope Francis
Radio Veritas 846, the leading faith-based am station in the Philippines will hold the second Veritas Jubilee of Mercy pilgrimage on July 24, 2016 from 4:30 a.m. to 5: 00 p.m.
In observance of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, the Church-run station will once again visit the jubilee churches in the Archdiocese of Manila namely: Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Intramuros, Manila; Santuario de Santo Cristo, San Juan City; Archdiocesan Shrine of the Divine Mercy, Mandaluyong City; Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Pasay City; and National Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Makati City.
According to Radio Veritas President Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual the second Veritas Jubilee of Mercy Pilgrimage is a good opportunity for those who haven’t been joined a pilgrimage in this Holy Year to gain a blessing from God and for the remission of their sins.
“As the station aims to help more faithful to go on pilgrimage in this Holy Year to gain the plenary indulgence, Radio Veritas is inviting everyone to join this spiritual journey and perform a specific act of mercy,” Fr. Pascual said.
In his letter, “According to which an indulgence is granted to the faithful on the occasion of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy,” Pope Francis also said that to experience and to obtain the Indulgence, the faithful are called to make a brief pilgrimage to the Holy Door, open in every Cathedral or in the churches designated by the Diocesan Bishop, as a sign of the deep desire for true conversion.
In order to obtain a plenary indulgence, the faithful must commit to avoiding all sins, even venial, sacramentally confess their sins, receive the Holy Communion, and pray for the Pope and his prayer intentions.
The first Veritas Jubilee of Mercy Pilgrimage was held last May 29, 2016 with over sixty participants.
