Members of the Legion of Mary may now pray the “Catena Legionis” together through Radio Veritas 846.
The leading faith-based AM station will air the Filipino (Tagalog) version of the “Catena Legionis” led by Msgr. Celso Ditan, Spiritual director of the Legion of Mary-Senatus of Northern Philippines, twice a day at 9 in the morning and at 12 midnight.
According the Handbook of the Legion of Mary, the daily recitation of the Catena Legionis (Chain of the Legion) is the link between the Legion and the daily life of all its members, active and auxiliary, and the bond which unites them one to another and to their Blessed Mother. The daily recitation of the Catena is one of the four standing instructions for the active members of the Legion of Mary.
The Catena is composed primarily of the Magnificat, our Blessed Mother’s own prayer and the evening hymn of the Church, and was described by St. Louis Marie de Montfort “the most humble and grateful, the most sublime and exalted of all the Canticles.”
The Legion of Mary is a lay apostolic association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the Church and under the powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate, Mediatrix of All Graces, serve the Church and their neighbor on a voluntary basis in about 170 countries. The Legion’s priority is the spiritual and social welfare of each individual. The members participate in the life of the parish through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish. Every legionary is required to carry out a weekly apostolic work in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary.
Radio Veritas 846 is owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Manila. Established in 1969, the Ramon Magsaysay recipient Catholic radio station continues to be the leading social communications ministry for truth and evangelization in the country today.
